Last thing Hoot remembered was Norman also sitting, propped against the wall
and bleeding, next to him. Like a couple
of old friends, they sat there – both
of them – side by side and dying together.
And Hoot remembered thinking that, if this was the way it was meant to
be, then it was really okay. He
remembered Angela kneeling beside him and whispering something in his ear – he
heard her say; “Don’t forget. The path that brought us here doesn’t exist
anymore,” before he blacked out.
